ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a child I found it difficult to stay in the lines as I colored. It wasn’t for lack of trying, I just couldn’t do it. I wanted to be neat and perfect like everyone else because it was what I was “supposed” to do. My handwriting went all over the place and I was scolded by my fellow third graders to make sure I didn’t lose the handwriting contest for everyone else. To this day I still struggle with penmanship, so it’s a good thing email has become so prevalent! Random would be a great word to describe me, and most of my friends and family would support that. I am all over the place. I will start a new conversation in the middle of another – a talent that is both frustrating and amusing to my friends. My refusal to hone down a favorite color, restaurant or movie is also a frequent topic of conversation. I just don’t want to choose—perhaps because it means staying in the lines and boxing me in. My art is a reflection of my free spirit. The bigger the canvas the better. I love to create work that makes a person want to reach out and touch it. Knowing that someone has taken a part of me into their personal space is very gratifying and humbling. I cannot wait to see where my art and my life takes me, because I have finally realized this journey I am on has no lines or boundaries and I intend to enjoy the ride!"
